A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_3356_34112847811_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival46_14981691150_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival50_14981774447_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_24866205913_o 2020-Lunar-New-Year-Year-of-the-Rat 2g9a2946_49093920563_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente11_12249073025_o P1080590 2g9a8441_32759667218_o img_5306_41421434465_o 08-may-2017-17visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34353151130_o 23-feb-2018-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-e-izquierda-unida-11_38627528670_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-53_32022592491_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-3_34309881912_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-19_28979585764_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168291795_o 2g9a4644_30827326321_o img_3808_37163046125_o 2g9a7303_29750654571_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_28941929293_o img_5115_29445244416_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-63 visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26128568886_o 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_24206823655_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-69bn_20617804443_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-75bn_21050823460_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
