Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. inmaculada-fotos-23112014-08_15471105014_o img_3992_16235884456_o img_4857_26995107757_o img_0546_45389675714_o img_9024_20142712895_o 7u3a6492_49454717262_o img_0466_22928235021_o img_2652_45564848191_o 2g9a0249_48801280336_o 2g9a0475_48801429952_o gibraltar-tradewise-chess-festival_003_12193958386_o img_0062_41972487710_o 7u3a5748_49425344303_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-23 img_4989_48919806107_o 2g9a6690_48204068216_o img_5226_48919808312_o img_5341_48919810412_o 2g9a8418_32759668068_o img_0217_40383698230_o 24-04-2017-desfile-de-la-libertad-de-la-ciudad-de-los-royal-engineers-6_34113616971_o img_0344_36479571025_o 17-feb-2017-visita-a-gibraltar-del-alcalde-de-chiclana-jos-mara-romn-y-rueda-de-prensa-con-fabin-picardo_32368145225_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354045123_o 2g9a6060_30999748691_o_31001125971_o 2g9a5081_30659547530_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-40_22784320518_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-43_30927345666_o 2g9a4480_30798997992_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-7_30578377870_o img_5066_29192366000_o img_9565_26492956541_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27556205220_o a-dsc_5319_19436635795_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
