2g9a9863_48907305253_o 2g9a9951_48908043047_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Both Joe Bossano for GSLP/Libs and Kim Karnani Santos attended Line Wall Road where tensions were high at one point this morning). Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-634_22729463362_o vistas-de-ocean-village-y-de-la-pista-del-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_22713695086_o cola-peatonal-salida-de-gibraltar-23072015-04_19775844498_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival17_14981888208_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26868057431_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-23_24720979549_o 29-mayo-inauguracin-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho15_14311136714_o 7u3a9503_49597578106_o img_9426_27252739267_o portaaviones-hms-queen-elizabeth-fondeado-en-el-puerto-de-gibraltar-2_40133904802_o img_4169_20486692433_o img_0758_21409102358_o 7u3a0034_50032693941_o Punta-Europa-11 2g9a2049_48706246021_o img_4560_48714144461_o img_5364_48919072418_o 2g9a8430_46634160761_o img_0235_45106526034_o img_1722_36605172860_o img_3228_40937377451_o img_9609_31008261418_o img_0257_36311293012_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-24_34309885842_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_30656122113_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-60_29605113775_o 2g9a5373_30961938615_o img_3752_37163083835_o 11-de-noviembre-2016-concurso-cyber-centurion-en-gibraltar-9_30282305364_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29845564652_o 94340_29416775091_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27834022325_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_24866076523_o 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-17_23129285749_o 2g9a9745_27874083715_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
