7u3a6909_49471764041_o_49483317277_o-1 2g9a9880_48907832386_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. desayuno-financiero-de-gibraltar-en-londres_45518758841_o img_0046_43921147401_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_22696817144_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii75_20595250093_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23325344425_o 7u3a9411_49597828732_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 2g9a0492_26784203071_o repatriacin-de-nacionales-britnicos-desde-marruecos-covid-19_49870139273_o 2012-Definitive-2012-Birds-of-the-Rock-Addition img_0818_21409371238_o 2012-Dickens-200th-Anniversary 2g9a4968_48874960906_o img_5724_49085935953_o 2g9a0475_48801429952_o img_5848_49085936943_o panorama-2_24765450267_o 2g9a1738_48699831842_o img_4597_48713814663_o img_8316_32759662498_o img_1688_36166373184_o img_9375_44830633282_o img_3023_26064783637_o img_2383_26972657888_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-138_24674711168_o 08-may-2017-22visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_33895393094_o reunin-del-ministro-principal-con-susana-daz-en-sevilla_39893135221_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354046843_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026146381_o 2g9a4548_30879149156_o img_2184_36326672184_o 8-noviembre-2016-premios-certamen-internacional-de-arte-de-gibraltar-2_30879586365_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-46_28981296213_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27319188132_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
