This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_9397_43202798214_o img_0450_45389551134_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-emili-sande_9703002222_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions img_7575_34925360743_o img_9930_21457133092_o portaaviones-hms-queen-elizabeth-llegando-a-gibraltar-imagen-tomada-desde-uno-de-los-buques-de-apoyo-via-royal-navy-32_39267697245_o strongmen-201383_10018796664_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201441_15600018446_o main-street-10_25762497288_o 2g9a0335_48800935673_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-17 img_4708_48714310862_o img_1270_36861661641_o img_1919_40128321214_o 20171214_111203_39025260932_o img_2383_44585539982_o img_9918_42144419452_o img_0755_26036934728_o img_7173_34776877175_o 08-may-2017-5visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_33895413304_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-76_29495004612_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31318394092_o 2g9a6158_30306788763_o_31001136931_o 12-de-noviembre-de-2016-visita-del-ministro-licudi-al-mein-schiff-8_30661245820_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-17_24847788481_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-77_20999225390_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
