COLA GIBRALTAR colas-frontera-diciembre04_12348633105_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Both Joe Bossano for GSLP/Libs and Kim Karnani Santos attended Line Wall Road where tensions were high at one point this morning). Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. img_0474_44296997650_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-olly-murs_9703103702_o img_9910_43921163871_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival31_14461041451_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii20_21216519815_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii25_21216501695_o 2013-Diamond-Anniversary-of-the-Coronation img_9944_21441875066_o 29-mayo-inauguracin-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho05_14311156184_o 29-mayo-inauguracin-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho12_14125125990_o img_9576_41403097644_o 7u3a9971_50032627151_o visita-del-alcalde-de-la-lnea-al-ministro-principal-de-gibraltar_48954605301_o 2g9a1991_49049019336_o 2g9a3950_49336910632_o Monos-5 Monos-en-la-ciudad-20 commonwealth-park-14_38925461814_o P1080798 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48114555162_o img_2358_39948488735_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131071501_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-2_30843124176_o img_1780_36605216850_o 2g9a7201_29205876064_o img_9477_43969661765_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27319190562_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_40402220610_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26613133941_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026133411_o img_9529_26492984791_o img_3849_36349062283_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-33_20999260760_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
