A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 2018-Gibraltar-Year-of-the-Dog img_0467_45202130835_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0174_15435565781_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-26_24461790043_o 27-ene-17-fabin-picardo-visita-el-open-de-gibraltar-de-ajedrez-27_32513497486_o 7u3a6460_49454013673_o 7u3a5172_49336912287_o 2018-65th-Anniversary-of-the-Coronation commonwealth-park-3_38925446974_o 2g9a0697_48805745128_o img_5307_48919812357_o 2g9a0959_48806101981_o img_5451_48919073208_o 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-16_15832479693_o dscf7857_43693501485_o img_9750_21274985270_o img_5449_40516024330_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48114461996_o img_8855_37650988014_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_42209194681_o img_7301_34391647280_o img_7176_34776882155_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026150951_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-47_30828722711_o 89098_28871964064_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-91 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_23838986769_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-09_21177012172_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
