160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños restauracin-cementerio-witham-6_24850848043_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Both Joe Bossano for GSLP/Libs and Kim Karnani Santos attended Line Wall Road where tensions were high at one point this morning). Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. turismo-por-la-calle-real-de-gibraltar_22740394265_o 20150911_135314190_ios_22717156276_o monos-zona-alta-del-pen-con-turistas-14_9222301695_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23325266355_o img_3408_33432755753_o img_3732_34086398822_o img_0398_44297006850_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9699853385_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26868057861_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25851360036_o img_5263_34402478076_o img_5173_34284279892_o img_7578_35694936276_o img_1815_31692341668_o img_0466_22928235021_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201433_15003558023_o cervantes-07 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-7_15832492483_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente03_12249023045_o 7u3a5862_49425349978_o Monos-18 main-street-0435_38925638504_o img_2774_38737246865_o alameda-gardens-5_39603360592_o evacuation-monument-0483_27856104469_o 2g9a2017_48706412022_o img_1919_40128321214_o 08-may-2017-17visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34353151130_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-75_26771239499_o dementia-day-centre-panorama1_32228021781_o img_0614_36479631175_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-31_29605144375_o 98049_28871949794_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26405503920_o a-dsc_5760_18815923873_o 2g9a9430_27839937656_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
