A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 181016 - Gibraltar inaugura las nuevas oficinas del Puerto 2g9a9933_48907835556_o 7u3a9752_50032205128_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9699816029_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23325208355_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-texas_9703037170_o img_0431_45202144315_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival26_14277760389_o img_8793_20141599155_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii14_21029726639_o img_8826_20147089721_o hospital-de-campaa_49726813906_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 11-oct-2017-eurafrica-trail-13_37623778612_o 1_img_0074_42877268385_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39843299322_o img_4931_48919598081_o 2g9a6797_48204161667_o img_5192_48919808727_o img_5315_48919808782_o dscf7859_44600529141_o img_9294_29944471667_o OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA img_9313_43969566055_o 2g9a9323_29519579804_o img_3547_36982596533_o 2g9a5856_31077416596_o_31001135681_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36996841882_o 2g9a6060_30999748691_o_31001125971_o gibraltar-recuerda-a-las-vctimas-de-los-ataques-de-pars_30893215301_o 2g9a5329_25325834499_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29455739122_o img_9601_26532962996_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-35_24573490439_o 3-de-diciembre-2015-bienvenida-al-atlethic-de-bilbao-18_23414781861_o flashmob-sunborn-gibraltar-1411201450_15789738276_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
