A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. skywalk-gibraltar-13-photo-taken-for-bovis-koala-jv-by-meteogibs-photographer-stephen-ball_42273841775_o la-marina-de-ocean-village-desde-la-parte-alta-del-pen-de-gibraltar_22551851240_o 21-agosto-2014-colas-de-entrada-y-salida-de-gibraltar14_14966751946_o img_6790_34732193043_o cola-entrada-a-gibraltar-28072015-01_19467065984_o img_2611_45564827331_o img_0468_44297011980_o 2015-Europa-2015-Old-Toys img_0539_44297152980_o 2g9a0210_48801280746_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25851358156_o 2g9a2980_49094629367_o img_0758_21409102358_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_26002513008_o 2g9a0895_48805746648_o 2g9a2583_49086447351_o img_5864_49085940138_o gib-view-2_24765539247_o img_2073_27855785559_o P1080795 img_3892_48699660516_o img_5075_48919600196_o img_5365_48919809932_o 2g9a4691_48713814358_o img_8955_38363726131_o_38310547566_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026137331_o 2g9a4491_30280747154_o img_2343_37163010205_o 9-de-noviembre-2016-fabin-picardo-en-la-feria-internacional-del-bunkering-ibia-21_30879404915_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
