A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. gibraltar-music-festival-2013-olly-murs_9703116420_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival19_14463275594_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-23_9222675551_o 7u3a6466_49454485566_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-1-the-sweet-canary-ensemble-28_9222682679_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0165-bw_15253259780_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201428_15437731807_o img_9944_21441875066_o strongmen-201370_10018905094_o img_4094_20485244984_o img_0075_43733184952_o evacuation-monument-0479_24765699637_o Mezquita-31 2g9a4241_48230643706_o 2g9a4301_48230720497_o 2g9a8437_32759667488_o 2g9a8440_46634160291_o img_1653_43726029775_o img_9407_44160683964_o img_5339_40516053100_o rag-n-bone-man-at-mtv-presents-gibraltar-calling-2018-day-2-by-ollie-millington-16_43072428790_o img_8979_37649875304_o_37651625164_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-137_37830963504_o 2g9a9167_29519228343_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-172_38547040931_o 2g9a7303_29750654571_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354092953_o 2g9a9561_29447149796_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-85_29494999272_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26074967863_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
