Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. img_3329_34202600996_o img_0480_44297011370_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-gabrielle-aplin_9699758045_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-la-oreja-de-van-gogh_9703170726_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival01_14463022722_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii31_21190233916_o img_0842_21606021591_o img_4623_31174602427_o 2g9a3028_49094631477_o university-29_38925362664_o 27-ene-17-fabin-picardo-visita-el-open-de-gibraltar-de-ajedrez-13_32513495316_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-06_14150913002_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_39843233622_o img_4204_21276163880_o 2g9a9726_50032155923_o 7u3a9971_50032627151_o Alameda-24 P1080724 Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-16 2g9a8314_46581738572_o img_7262_34614722442_o img_2229_36326661384_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-52_30800410832_o img_5183_29479243165_o 2-jun-2016-salvas-en-gibraltar-honor-al-aniversario-de-coronacin-de-la-reina_27319188132_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
