A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. paisajes-urbanos-gibraltar-03_9222264997_o img_4003_15641881983_o presentacin-libro-yanitos-tllez23_12102521446_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-14_29439882075_o img_0704_21597161645_o img_4630_32242470328_o img_4742_46113676411_o sk-slovan-bratislava-europa-fc-gibraltar-09072015-25_19574912381_o img_0074_42877268385_o img_4089_21097794562_o Monos-27 img_4799after_38737173265_o 2g9a2017_49049241587_o Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-17 2g9a5905_48204654652_o 2g9a5335_48726350517_o img_3959_44014407010_o img_4071_44014421830_o img_2367_44585495712_o img_5364_27453592207_o OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA 2g9a5916_30999441671_o_31001133401_o 2g9a4574_30827336691_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_25492772845_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
