A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-65_29439804845_o img_2663_44650717615_o 2017-Accession-65th-Anniversary-Sapphire-Jubilee-set img_0496_22928194391_o portaaviones-hms-queen-elizabeth-llegando-a-gibraltar-imagen-tomada-desde-uno-de-los-buques-de-apoyo-via-royal-navy-23_39267701665_o partido-prensa-cdiz-veteranos-de-gibraltar-07_14755370252_o superman-en-gibraltar-actor-henry-cavill-carrera-5km-del-350-aniversario-de-la-marina-britanica-25102014-07_15448394878_o celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-04_9224808220_o 2g9a0766_48806237177_o img_4119_21276205220_o 2g9a2066_49049014481_o 7u3a5293_49336694791_o commonwealth-park-1_38737170835_o 2g9a4512_48713811883_o img_5104_48919599951_o img_0174_45781931752_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall img_5299_42275715542_o img_0779_26036940338_o img_8655_26036946918_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-22_32141135795_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354056413_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770649230_o img_2677_24884720199_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37168291795_o img_3857_36326629114_o 2g9a9689_29481293275_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
