Vistas de Gibraltar bateras-de-defensa-del-siglo-xviii-se-combinan-con-modernos-desarrollos-urbansticos-en-la-ciudad-de-gibraltar_22726532912_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 20150911_141754665_ios_22743471585_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-668_22122314643_o 20-agosto-2014-colas-de-salida-de-gibraltar07_14984514471_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-publico-y-ambiente_9703081598_o nolan-frendo-gibraltar-primer-puesto_14034232762_o img_5255_33634011703_o 27-ene-17-alumnos-de-la-escuela-obispo-fitzgerald-de-gibraltar-conmemoran-el-holocausto_31742373233_o 2013-Gibraltar-54th-Member-of-UEFA proyecto-de-construccin-de-las-dos-nuevas-escuelas-de-bayside-y-westside-en-waterport-gibraltar_41541646002_o 2014-Evacuation-2.00 portaaviones-hms-queen-elizabeth-llegando-a-gibraltar-imagen-tomada-desde-uno-de-los-buques-de-apoyo-via-royal-navy-21_26293510388_o 2g9a0575_26757758282_o university-27_39633682371_o festival-literario-gibraltar26_10496997253_o gibraltar-feroe-febrero-2014-10_12865021404_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente26_12249610596_o img_9654_21275150620_o 7u3a0102_50032156358_o 7u3a5223_49336694181_o main-street-0436_24765665127_o heritage141_24764840957_o img_2313_43726200805_o 2g9a1738_48699831842_o 2g9a4531_30798994232_o img_9573_44881504251_o 91751_29416778381_o dscf7861_44550416602_o img_4996_29481192055_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-100_38515438782_o 4-abr-2016-inauguracin-nueva-sede-banco-internacional-de-gibraltar-2_26168373991_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-149_24674710288_o img_2110_27703096945_o img_4259_36329340034_o img_4480_25012650324_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36770649990_o img_1402_24951485276_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026134161_o gibraltar-300-aos-de-utrecht-1372013-36_9289217689_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-93_29570769506_o img_2934_21784588945_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
