A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_3744_34086395152_o img_0411_45389529274_o img_9947_43202780524_o lester-de-san-fernando-cdiz-tercer-premio_14033461354_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival27_14463414014_o panormica-de-gibraltar_17060214204_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions img_9032_20134641472_o 2g9a0845_48805745823_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201423_15624582702_o open-tradewise-de-ajedrez-de-gibraltar_16386688995_o 2g9a0241_48800934073_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente16_12249631326_o university-22_27855821889_o img_4262_20919539220_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_26002340068_o img_4806_25762483818_o 2g9a2019_49049241427_o 20171214_155345_24195320787_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-103_38515438732_o img_0748_38822717030_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-160_24674706348_o img_8716_26036949768_o 2-bob-peliza-mews_23521833618_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-45_28979567144_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-104_29524279591_o inauguracin-del-monumento-a-la-mujer-en-gibraltar_31349009571_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959237155_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29275189760_o 05-ene-2016-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_23911235630_o 85-aniversario-museo-gibraltar-23072015-25_19342628343_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
