Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. img_9942_43202781834_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival38_14463183572_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival44_14484536873_o img_6793_34732167833_o hospital-de-campaa_49726264493_o entrenamiento-conjunto-balona-san-joseph-en-la-linea-02122013-16_11213254726_o 7u3a9977_50032885382_o 7u3a5209_49336225313_o dav img_5036_48919805797_o img_5331_48919602701_o img_4144_45831071571_o cambio-de-guardia-en-gibraltar-por-boda-real_40402221220_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-147_38547049871_o img_2368_43726180615_o img_5400_41421459905_o img_0789_39737053065_o 08-may-2017-14visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34353151830_o 2g9a9386_32228027671_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354052533_o img_9878_36433411556_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-60_29605113775_o 2g9a5939_31113370845_o_31001132741_o img_3858_36326627434_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-102_22784234748_o img_5103_28855182574_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27732675472_o img_9500_26533095916_o a-dsc_5736_18815928263_o img_3308_27839984676_o 8-de-marzo-2016-reunin-de-fabin-picardo-con-miembros-del-psoe-02_24990424953_o img_2772_25225960806_o img_2602_24738688579_o 2g9a0155_26856598152_o 9-septiembre-15-national-day-2015-03_20678040234_o 9-septiembre-15-national-day-2015-96_21289972752_o gibraltar-evacuation-dsc_3661_18005059781_o Portaaviones HMS Queen Elizabeth en Gibraltar Remembrance Sunday Service at the Cross of Sacrifice, Gibraltar.
