A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_8423_20076596992_o 7u3a9776_50032204973_o default img_3374_34086335542_o img_9345_42112036860_o 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival44_14484536873_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii41_21028556618_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0195-bw_15436771241_o 2g9a0459_26247307513_o 2g9a0368_48801282306_o img_4128_21107815155_o img_9488_41403116984_o 7u3a5299_49336914047_o visita-del-alcalde-de-la-lnea-al-ministro-principal-de-gibraltar_48954605301_o Cuevas-de-San-Miguel-10 WP_20140508_034 Punta-Europa-24 Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-11 2g9a0656_48919599111_o 2g9a5976_48204604726_o img_1234_36605111830_o img_8743_25038458137_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-23_34428542426_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354093843_o 2g9a9219_29519585424_o img_2271_36349050153_o 10-may-2016-visita-inaugural-crucero-jewel-of-the-seas-14_26935102185_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26073157754_o 09-feb-2016-simulacro-de-incidente-en-el-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24797044212_o 2g9a9858_27596510040_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
