A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0419_46063492272_o img_6815_34732165413_o la-galera-gustavo-bacarisas-de-gibraltar-acoge-las-obras-realizadas-durante-los-talleres-de-verano-del-servicio-de-trastornos-del-aprendizaje_24190853550_o img_1813_44650696635_o 2014-Gibraltar-Year-of-the-Horse calpeia3_48874429843_o 1926-Sello-Gibraltar-5-Libras-Jorge-V 2g9a0887_48806239427_o Papeleta-de-votacion-para-el-referendum-de-1967 img_4185_21107723065_o img_0172_29910432278_o 7u3a5175_49336226178_o visita-del-alcalde-de-la-lnea-al-ministro-principal-de-gibraltar_48954055143_o commonwealth-park-7_27855892219_o commonwealth-park-12_38925458284_o Punta-Europa-25 shipping-6_38736467335_o 2g9a6816_48204116957_o img_4756_48713815703_o img_3838_30891438957_o img_9656_44160819264_o 7U3A2448 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-66_32141123095_o img_0745_36479651875_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354044173_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354081553_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-33_29495045292_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-3_30962853065_o 2g9a7235_29797864476_o 2g9a9432_29481560885_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27556205810_o 4-abr-2016-inauguracin-nueva-sede-banco-internacional-de-gibraltar-18_26234660725_o lanzamiento-de-la-campaa-gibraltar-stronger-in-europe_26114753160_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
