A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. 19-mayo-gibraltar-world-music-festival33_14277805098_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25244587034_o 10-mayo-2016-inauguracin-nueva-ala-del-museo-de-gibraltar_26868060771_o 7u3a9444_49597828257_o img_5157_34443961825_o 15-de-enero-2016-simulacro-de-rescate-con-helicpteros-merlin-mk3-en-gibraltar-21_23770224444_o img_0469_22928231221_o 2g9a0251_48801280246_o gibraltar-eslovaquia08_10967606764_o Juan-Franco-izda.-y-Fabian-Picardo-en-la-exposicion-del-50-aniversario img_4138_20841535414_o Juan-Franco-izquierda-y-Fabian-Picardo-derecha-momentos-antes-del-cierre-de-las-actividades-de-recuerdo-del-cierre-en-La-Linea 2g9a1105_48951599463_o 659-boab-wa_48826285888_o piper-1_39633880161_o xmas-lights-010_39603728212_o img_0778_39737054575_o 2g9a0690_48919806857_o img_4587_23521820738_o img_9734_31008258598_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-22_31319334473_o img_9806_31008313768_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-24_31980775222_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-26_32141135125_o img_2210_36991629332_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-14_30874520881_o img_5257_29190529890_o 27-abr-16-homenaje-a-los-trabajadores-de-gibraltar_26074990233_o fabin-picardo-en-la-cabalgata-de-los-reyes-magos-en-gibraltar_23578624704_o 85-aniversario-museo-gibraltar-23072015-07_19776880979_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
