160421 - Inauguración de la nueva marina en Gibraltar para barcos pequeños 2g9a9480_48908303307_o 2g9a9892_48908041837_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-453_22719033706_o gibraltar-en-el-cuarto-comit-de-la-onu_45210241811_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. colas-de-salida-26-01-15_16191679968_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23029632100_o img_8954_19520140694_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-77_29331737072_o proyecto-de-construccin-de-las-dos-nuevas-escuelas-de-bayside-y-westside-en-waterport-gibraltar_40689988645_o 2015-RAF-squadrons-Gibraltar 2019-D-Day-Landings-75th-Anniversary img_0481_22524943749_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_26002356088_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_38976654525_o 25-JUN3 31-mayo-ii-jornada-y-clausura-xvii-juegos-del-estrecho23_14292930526_o tradewise-chess-festival-entrevistas-y-ambiente19_12249057895_o 7u3a5132_49336224073_o 2g9a8834_48826628056_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-9 WP_20140508_023 gibraltar-regiment-2_39604040812_o 2g9a2061_48706418077_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48114554797_o 2g9a4307_48230719732_o img_5161_48919068648_o 2g9a8410_46581735372_o img_4638_48714310412_o img_0148_30891441977_o img_3929-1_45106516084_o img_1537_44635085691_o img_2340_43726192065_o 2g9a9442_31537101713_o 5-enero-2017-cabalgata-de-reyes-magos-gibraltar-24_31980775222_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-73_29314644140_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-55_29605119295_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-76_29495004612_o llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31318399202_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-51_30828720631_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29876091291_o 2g9a9779_29481270825_o img_9537_25956123893_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
