A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_3353_33432738523_o img_0400_32242154128_o fiesta-del-1-de-mayo-en-gibraltar-01052015-25_17338559986_o img_9882_43921152611_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii10_21190292666_o 01-mar-2016-entrega-de-premios-concurso-artistas-jvenes-de-gibraltar_24862362884_o img_6713_35541516655_o img_2748_44650722675_o 2018-The-Prince-of-Wales regiment-freedom-of-city-0114-bw_15253400557_o 2g9a0224_48801280611_o 2g9a0864_48806100741_o gibraltar-tradewise-chess-festival_005_12193338105_o img_0095_43733179302_o american-war-memorial-7753_25762320768_o img_0653_38737101585_o 25-abr-2019-visita-fabin-picardo-al-ies-virgen-de-la-esperanza-de-la-lnea-16_47644435012_o 2g9a8460_46634159261_o img_4094_31960327078_o img_9841_31008298238_o 7U3A2449 img_8256_44550426652_o img_1552_43725760715_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall llegan-los-generadores-para-la-nueva-estacin-elctrica_31427020276_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354054773_o img_5115_29445244416_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354095883_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27758111691_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-92 Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-6 visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_26128564936_o 02-mar-2016-inauguracin-omisara-de-polica-de-casemates_25197190110_o 5-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-12_20999197940_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
