A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0509_32242283978_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival16_14277969528_o Gibraltar Music Festival 2015 Sunday sessions 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-38_25088640615_o sebastian-coe-en-gibraltar_25004279557_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25244589084_o lincoln-uefa-21072015-41_19913563571_o inauguracin-exposicin-vctor-quintanilla-en-gibraltar_25248543033_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-10_13967075189_o henry-cavill-en-la-carrera-del-350-aniversario-de-los-royal-marines-en-gibraltar-25-octubre-201408_15437572378_o 7u3a9570_49901122087_o 5-febrero-2015-entrega-premios-festival-internacional-de-ajedrez-tradewise-de-gibraltar-18_15832476453_o 7u3a0034_50032693941_o 2g9a9535_50032088788_o gorhams-cave-4_39633651031_o WP_20140508_034 main-street-0436_24765665127_o 2g9a2054_48705912518_o img_5075_48919600196_o 2g9a8407_46581735742_o img_4602_48714144161_o img_3946_30891445337_o 7U3A2451 img_1042_36599994636_o img_5311_41421436285_o 08-may-2017-28visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34606283441_o 2g9a9423_32308845166_o img_2287_36326616904_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-86_29570775406_o img_3844_36991615302_o 2g9a4493_30798997122_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27222138993_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27556018410_o visita-oficial-del-gobernador-al-puerto-de-gibraltar_25551865203_o 2g9a9408_27262516163_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
