180607 - Gibraltar realiza trabajos en enclaves y en el litoral Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-578_22556346360_o paisajes-urbanos-gibraltar-20_9222317571_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-342_22756349711_o turismo-en-gibraltar-092015-479_22123930803_o la-marina-de-ocean-village-desde-la-parte-alta-del-pen-de-gibraltar_22551851240_o gibraltar-world-music-festival-dia-2-yasmin-levy-mediterranean-andalusian-orchestra-ashkelon-31_9225499336_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii55_21028524038_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii62_20593743904_o 3-de-septiembre-de-2016-gibraltar-music-festival-69_28815975134_o la-tv-alemana-zdf-graba-un-reportaje-en-gibraltar-michael-petch-zdf_25938054202_o university-30_39633681121_o visita-platini-gibralar-rock-cup-2014-34_14150427661_o strongmen-201335_10019267813_o img_4178_20919636190_o 2g9a9844_50032953507_o img_9681_20842047033_o 2g9a1146_48951598808_o 2g9a8838_48826783472_o 2g9a2066_49049014481_o Monos-48 Monos-en-la-ciudad-18 alameda-gardens-17_39603967062_o WP_20140508_005 2g9a4621_48714142201_o img_4101_45831073121_o img_4187_31960329188_o img_3541_36982597513_o img_8670_26036948318_o 23-feb-2018-encuentro-entre-fabin-picardo-e-izquierda-unida-15_38627528190_o img_2057_36623942100_o 2g9a5796_32383640900_o 2g9a9244_29519581684_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_37026131231_o 13-noviembre-2016-da-del-recuerdo-en-gibraltar-5_30962852395_o 2g9a4666_30280753384_o 21-jun-2016-inauguracin-puente-colgante-en-la-reserva-natural-del-pen-de-gibraltar_27556200630_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27758109451_o Escala-inaugural-del-crucero-Ovation-of-the-Seas-42 Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
