Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. img_3430_33432751043_o img_9642_21276324019_o proyecto-de-construccin-de-las-dos-nuevas-escuelas-de-bayside-y-westside-en-waterport-gibraltar_40689988645_o 2g9a9516_50032088888_o american-war-memorial-7761_38737187195_o Monos-6 Alameda-11 img_5373_48919072188_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131067056_o 2g9a9349_32308849256_o 2g9a4499_48714307747_o 2g9a9368_32228017081_o img_9795_44830682372_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-4_32102453726_o scounting-for-girls-at-mtv-presents-gibraltar-calling-2018-day-2-by-ollie-millington-26_44833862302_o img_2687_24956720390_o img_8061_44600547541_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-8_29314688490_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-92_26771252809_o 2g9a5326_22783101658_o img_0146_42144361792_o 2g9a4564_30827339181_o img_0393_36342216841_o 2g9a7231_29797865036_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36331787634_o a-dsc_5628_18814089064_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36978705916_o 2g9a1678_26964557600_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
