A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. restauracin-cementerio-witham-15_25477582715_o restauracin-cementerio-witham-26_25110013129_o 2g9a9381_48908090906_o 2g9a9427_48908096266_o airport-0431_24765626727_o notre-dame-1_44296998490_o concierto-de-albert-hammond-7-noviembre-201407_15739843512_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii26_20595366793_o 17-febrero-2016-exposicin-gibraltar-y-la-guerra-civil-espaola-7_24461816153_o hospital-de-campaa_49726813506_o HMS-Forth-5 regiment-freedom-of-city-0086-bw_15436769111_o img_0797_21597307915_o festival-literario-gibraltar22_10497032213_o 2g9a0427_48801282896_o university-33_39633679641_o img_5830_49085937108_o Monos-54 P1080622 2g9a4739_48717726667_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131154337_o img_0314_31960327678_o img_3844-1_45831048331_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-79_26771253999_o img_2409_40800642252_o 15-diciembre-2016-inauguracin-de-la-restauracin-de-wellingtong-front-22_31305173340_o 2g9a5782_31949657513_o 10-sep-2017-national-day-de-gibraltar_36354096473_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-34_29605141075_o 10-feb-2016-celebracin-en-gibraltar-del-ao-nuevo-chino-10_24847790001_o tom-lackey-acrobata-aereo-de-94-anos-en-gibraltar-10102014-11_15329586058_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
