monos-en-la-ciudad-01_9225087546_o elecciones-generales-gibraltar-26-de-noviembre-de-2015_23299055366_o Gibraltar - 27th November 2015 - With security around John Macintosh Hall tightened, the first ballot box surprised everyone arriving dead on 10pm, the time polling stations were supposed to close their doors. A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_3791_34243162515_o 19-junio-gibraltar-world-music-festival38_14463183572_o 6-septiembre-2015-gibraltar-music-festival-2015-iii08_21029739439_o 7u3a9468_49597827977_o img_6618_35502333506_o img_6682_35541521895_o hospital-de-campaa_49726813906_o regiment-freedom-of-city-0195_15252198057_o visita-platini-gibralar-rock-cup-2014-34_14150427661_o img_0821_21409366548_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-21_14150891072_o strongmen-201308_10019430943_o 7u3a9693_49900297453_o 7u3a5792_49425348648_o 7u3a5282_49336914572_o Monos-en-la-ciudad-1 Alameda-14 Alameda-20 evacuation-monument-0491_24765693877_o P1080662 commonwealth-park-1_38737170835_o commonwealth-park-14_38925461814_o wellington-front044-3_25762163748_o WP_20140510_045 img_3892_48699660516_o img_5383_48919811822_o img_9556_44550413582_o img_5339_40516053100_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-120_38547058011_o img_8652_39910045081_o CM & Franco Visit Frontier Exhibition 060619 { seq} ( Photo John Bugeja) at the JMHall img_7258_34614714372_o img_7173_34776877175_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-75_29314642660_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
