A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. colas-coches-gibraltar-febrero-2014-7_12614288325_o img_3331_34112853121_o gibraltar-music-festival-2013-emili-sande_9699786729_o 6-de-septiembre-2014-iii-gibraltar-music-festival37_15145365246_o 2g9a0569_26757765932_o visita-platini-gibraltar-rock-cup-2014-31_14173780663_o 2g9a0877_48806238737_o img_5858_49086445046_o 2g9a8838_48826783472_o P1080656 Teleferico-Parte-Alta-del-Penon-6 img_5359_48919810092_o 25-abr-2019-visita-fabin-picardo-al-ies-virgen-de-la-esperanza-de-la-lnea-13_47644436502_o 2g9a8399_46581735812_o img_9676_44881516961_o img_9956_27319558397_o img_9106_38333460332_o_26590181149_o img_1420_36185587594_o 6-enero-2016-cabalgata-reyes-magos-gibraltar-ii-70_31765983200_o img_0261_36311291132_o img_9924_36082747380_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-11_33659896883_o 05-mayo-17-visita-claire-moody-34_33659898213_o 2g9a9235_29852392560_o 2g9a5317_30873330951_o 04-sep-2016-gibraltar-music-festival_29565262465_o 000-a-dsc_6120_19249146540_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
