Puntualización del Gobierno de Gibraltar

El Gobierno de Gibraltar desea puntualizar las informaciones emitidas por la Agencia EFE y el medio digital The Diplomat in Spain acerca del supuesto contenido de los memorándums sobre Gibraltar que aún se encuentran en fase de negociación en el curso del Acuerdo de Salida del Reino Unido y Gibraltar de la Unión Europea. Los dos medios citan presuntas “fuentes diplomáticas cercanas al equipo negociador español” y “fuentes cercanas al tema”, respectivamente.
Aparte de que estas filtraciones vulnerarían de manera gravosa la confidencialidad convenida entre las partes sobre estas negociaciones, la información ofrecida es sustancialmente incierta en muchos y variados aspectos. A estas alturas, el Gobierno de Gibraltar no ofrecerá más detalles sobre el contenido de las negociaciones de lo que está en el dominio público. Cuando se publique el resultado de las negociaciones, se desvelará claramente que la información ofrecida ahora no es fiable y se basa en medias verdades.
Gibraltar no ha hecho concesión alguna en cuanto a soberanía, jurisdicción o control. Por tanto, estas informaciones no atribuidas son totalmente incorrectas y no están basadas en ninguna interpretación existente o potencial de los textos.
HM Government of Gibraltar wishes to clarify the information published by EFE news agency and The Diplomat in Spain website regarding the supposed content of the memorandums on Gibraltar which are still under negotiation in the course of the Withdrawal Agreement of the United Kingdom and Gibraltar from the European Union. The media outlets cite alleged “diplomatic sources close to the Spanish negotiation team” and “sources close to the issue” respectively.
Apart from the fact that such leaks would gravely infringe the confidentiality agreed upon between the parties of these negotiations, the information offered is substantially untrue in many and varied material respects. Her Majesty’s Government of Gibraltar will not disclose more details of the content of the negotiations at this stage than those already put in the public domain. When the documentation is published, it will become clearly apparent that the information published was unreliable and based on half-truths.
Gibraltar has made no concessions whatsoever in respect of sovereignty, jurisdiction or control. The unattributed statements are therefore wildly inaccurate and are not based on any actual or potential interpretation of the texts.
