A stream of ballot boxes then arrived as GBC announced the results of their exit poll putting the GSLP/Liberal Alliance ahead with 72%. As counting started by midnight candidates started to arrive at John Macintosh Hall where the count is taking place. One of the first candidates to arrive was John Cortes, followed by Edwin Reyes. Moments later Joseph Garcia, Gilbert Licudi, Albert Isola and Steven Linares arrived to a somewhat quite JHM as counting started. The verification count was overseen by agents of both parties, with the Governor Alison Macmilan also visiting JMH to oversee the protocols being followed, as is traditional during general elections in Gibraltar.John Macintosh Hall also saw tonight armed patrols present around the area, in keeping with the high security alert status presently experienced in Gibraltar. The security detail deployed included the presence of an inspector within the armed response detail, this being one of the few occassions in which a high ranking officer has been seen present as part of the unit when in public. img_0366_44297010760_o ii-festival-internacional-de-jazz-gibraltar18_10382445414_o javier-santivez-per_14033458704_o 2014-Christmas-2014 proyecto-de-construccin-de-las-dos-nuevas-escuelas-de-bayside-y-westside-en-waterport-gibraltar_40689988385_o 2014-Evacuation-set img_9868_21468182705_o img_4699_44297314220_o 2g9a8333_48874550353_o festival-literario-gibraltar24_10496810756_o 27-ene-17-fabin-picardo-visita-el-open-de-gibraltar-de-ajedrez-4_31710620034_o p1010490_48826817942_o P1080660 visita-del-alcalde-de-la-lnea-al-ministro-principal-de-gibraltar_48954605301_o commonwealth-park-4_38925449814_o Aerial view of the urban town centre population of Gibraltar.Photo by Cpl Scott Robertson RAFCommand Photographer British Forces Gibraltar gib-calling-panorama-5_48699831377_o 2g9a5935_48204606191_o img_4136_45831071841_o img_1165_36830716112_o img_9014_37650179064_o_37651609184_o img_7991_44550420252_o 2g9a5870_31077422446_o_31001135451_o img_9479_42792484090_o 2g9a9493_29447189776_o img_9514_44600533271_o 18-jun-2016-noche-de-la-calentita-en-gibraltar_27834024255_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-104_29524279591_o concierto-evacuados-de-gibraltar-07092015-26bn_20616236464_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
