181016 - Gibraltar inaugura las nuevas oficinas del Puerto cueva-de-st-michael-gibraltar_22756831081_o Gibraltar - 26th November 2015 - (Both Joe Bossano for GSLP/Libs and Kim Karnani Santos attended Line Wall Road where tensions were high at one point this morning). Police were today requested to make their presence known at the polling station by Line Wall Road after GSD activists handing leaflets outside the polling station are alleged to have made complaints over the use of the language used by a GSLP/Liberal activist handing leaflets to voters of Moroccan origins.According to reports received by Core Photography the GSD activists complained that the use of the native Moroccan language should not be allowed by those guiding voters outside the polling station, claiming the "official language in Gibraltar is English," according to witnesses present during the incident. This resulted in tensions between the activists. Police were present to calm down the situation which has been played down as a minor incident. Executive members of the GSD approached over the incident have indicated that they were not at the time aware of such an incident, but have indicated that they would not support such actions and would be looking into the matter. No further known incidents have been reported throughout the day.Voting has been steady throughout the day, with politicians attending the polling stations throughout the morning as voters queue up to vote. The Commissioner of Police has attended polling stations to oversee security in person. panormica-de-la-plaza-de-casemates-de-gibraltar-al-fondo-el-pen_22119569573_o img_3996_16235880376_o 2g9a9864_48907305153_o img_3791_34243162515_o 2g9a0559_26817621986_o img_9901_43872626082_o 2g9a8333_48874550353_o img_0494_32242282518_o celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-09_9222037487_o Gibraltar Music Festival Sets off celebracin-entrada-gibraltar-en-la-uefa-16_9224821622_o img_2716_45564862911_o strongmen-201332_10019292013_o 15-de-enero-2016-simulacro-de-rescate-con-helicpteros-merlin-mk3-en-gibraltar-18_24398430515_o 7u3a5079_49336224918_o 2g9a0894_48806239312_o 2g9a2034_49049027861_o img_3637_27855943459_o Mezquita-9 panorama-2_24765450267_o 2g9a4230_48230715447_o 23-jun-2019-blogueros-espaoles-de-viajes-visitan-el-pen_48131067056_o img_8316_32759662498_o 25-abr-2019-visita-fabin-picardo-al-ies-virgen-de-la-esperanza-de-la-lnea-2_47644434832_o img_4013_30891442987_o img_9799_43969746635_o 08-may-2017-30visita-inaugural-del-crucero-celebrity-or-reflection-a-gibraltar_34606279781_o img_3013_44603357601_o 2g9a6141_30746383930_o_31114931595_o 16-a-19-nov-2017-festival-internacional-de-literatura-gibunco-de-gibraltar-90_38515439272_o 2g9a5317_30873330951_o 160910-national-day-gibraltar-2016-36_28979572874_o 11-november-2016-98-ceremonia-del-da-del-armisticio-en-gibraltar-46_30828723301_o 24-sep-2016-toma-de-posesin-de-carmelo-zammit-del-cargo-de-obispo-de-gibraltar_29959238735_o 09-feb-2016-simulacro-de-incidente-en-el-aeropuerto-de-gibraltar_24547370469_o Gibraltar - 7th September 2015 - Gibraltar celebrated its first official Evacuation Commemoration Day with a concert hosted by the government of Gibraltar for some 800 evacuee survivors from the Second World War. The concert was held at the Victoria Stadium using the same stages and facilities used the day earlier by the Gibraltar Music Festival.Evacuation Commemoration Day was officially introduced earlier this year after Gibraltar celebrated 75 years since the whole of the Gibraltar population was evacuated during the second World War. Many of the Gibraltarians were taken to London where some died during the London blitz. Whilst most stayed in London, others were taken to Northern Ireland, Madiera and Jamacia. It was only a confrontation between population leaders that Gibraltarians were allowed back on the Rock after British officials had initially refused to return the population back to its rightful home.
